This compilation highlights the first month of RailAmerica's new SD70M-2 in service on the FEC. These locomotives only spent the month of January leading with an SD40-2 in trail or running with the first order of SD70M-2 before being unexpectedly dropped into "trailing only" service for the entire month of February & most of March due to software issues forcing them to shut down without warning. The last two clips in this compilation are from February when the RA units were demoted into trailing service. By the beginning of April, the new locomotives were once again leading the pack.

  • Rail America has ruined FEC. Everything including the sd 70's and sd 40's should be painted in fec blue paint scheme. They copied the Alaska railroad paint scheme on the SD 70's and keep re-painting the SD 40's in the union pacific scheme. Get it together and get some uniformity. I've seen a gp 40.. I think 415 up in Indiana. Stop sending engines all around the country.

  • sd70ace

  • Great video!!

  • Outstanding video!! I really liked seeing familiar locations like Palm Bay and Micco... brings back memories of trips to Florida.

The first train over the Stuart bridge with an RA unit leading... was that ECH? Thought I saw someone waving...

    5 stars!!!

  • I should carry my camera more.

I'll admit I'm a bit of a railfan and I know where a lot of these are shot, I've stood at the same locations as the Palm Bay ones and waited for trains to pass.

  • I'm not a railfan perse. I do work in the rail industry however and I have been involved in several 'pro' shoots.

Your work is some of the best I've seen

  • Did they fix it?

  • This video compilation is extremely well done -- nice composition of the overall scene (excellent choice of locations!) and the choreography of the filming (no movement!). The mixing is admirable, too, in that it avoids the 'boredom' of the middle of the train. FEC surely benefits from such publicity.

  • One of the best FEC videos I have ever seen! Awesome job! Makes me want to railfan many of those spots.

  • Awesome package Kevin, the photography you took is superb and the catches are absolutely awesome!
