Felix Wurman (1958-2009) would go on to become a renowned classical cellist and founder of the Church of Beethoven in Albuquerque NM. Mark Tucker (b. 1957) would go on to become an indie/alternative-rock musician and founder of indie label Tetrapod Spools. He would begin working on his now-legendary "Batstew" album just months after this video was made. Both Mr. Wurman and Mr. Tucker attended Oak Park - River Forest High School where, as musicians, they formed a fast friendship and embarked on a number of creative projects together. This interview was taped for no other reason than to get practice using the Sony Porta-Pak videotape recorder which belonged to the high school. Mr. Wurman passed away on December 26, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. This videotape has been in storage for over 35 years. As a tribute and a gesture of thanks to Felix, the interview is presented now in its entirety, in three parts.
The tour / interview continues with Part 2 of 3. The internet hadn't even been dreamed of in 1974, yet with characteristic visionary bravura, Felix says "Since this film is going to go nationwide..." They drive through Oak Park's long gone Jack-In-The-Box on North Avenue and Mark buys a "20¢ Coke" while listening to Bach organ music. Mark tells the girl who serves the coke that she is "going to be on nationwide TV". They drive East on North Avenue, then turn South on East Avenue.
this is fascinating, not only for the two artists..but the fact that they had a video camera in 1974 and did live shots around Chicago.Wish I had a video camera in the 70s.Great shots! How many people just did that..ride around w/ a video camera and just shoot?

So sad to hear of Felix's untimely death. Such a wonderful musician and a great guy. R.I.P.

I'll have one of those 20-cent cokes! Hey! There's no "cent" sign key on my keyboard!
