@momay69 MAB has done 6 DVDs for us. The Speed Lives series explain chords and scales because he's teaching songs note-for-note. The Speed Kills series is about technique. It's more about "how to" and Speed Lives covers the "why?"

This was actually very helpful. Good lesson, sir.

@bagnalldr09 he doesn't palm mute it..because when you palm mute with the neck pickup it doesn't sound powerful. michael and i solo alot differently. we use the neck pickup more than the bridge pickup...

I thought that the red thing was a hook for him to hang up his wig after shows....thanks for the clarification everyone!

MAB is just sooo cool. i wish i'd meet him and spend some time with him lol :D

@dmarks1 you can see he is using a string dampener, it's the red thing on the headstock of his guitar.

Can you imagine MAB with Justin Bieber hair???:D

I love you MAB :)

@dmarks1 Could you please explain what you mean by "fast twitch" muscles? It sounds like an excercise physiology concept - is it something that MAB explains in this new instructional DVD or something that is discussed in another instructional DVD? Are there specific ways to develop fast twitch muscles that MAB uses other than traditional lead guitar practicing techniques? Thanks!
when MAB is playing his faster runs, does he mute the strings he isn't playing with his palm or his thumb? I always palm muted when doing rhythm stuff and muted with my thumb during solos. I was curious as to what mab did

@bagnalldr09 I don't have a definitive answer for this. Michael says that most of his muting is performed with his fretting hand so I would assume that's the case here. I primarily mute with the palm of my picking hand and fingers of my picking hand as explained in The Complete Basic Course.

@dmarks1 do you not see the string dampener on his guitar?

@JesseS420 Of course Michael uses a string dampener. I shoot the videos so I'm well aware of that. I wasn't referring to when MIchael uses his string dampener. The string dampener is only used occasionally. I was referring to his general playing technique. He must mute strings when the dampener is not used.
