Player One Podcast - Mega Man - Gutsman Stage

The topic of our Player One Podcast Game Club segment in episode 98 is Capcom's classic NES game, Mega Man.

A few of our forum members have claimed that the game sucks. Their chief complaint seems to be that the reason for the suckage is because the game it too difficult.

After watching a couple videos from the forumites, I decided to respond with a video of me plowing through one of the stages that seems to give them a lot of trouble.

It's not the game that sucks, lads; it's you. ;)

Well done on beating the level, no easy task! But hey, you did get hit like 7 or 8 times in the first level alone, which does prove the game is exceedingly hard.

Oh, I've never claimed to be able to beat the game without getting hit (although I do have a Famitsu DVD that shows some Japanese kid doing just that...using only the standard weapon, no less). The game is simple too darn tough for most people to do that.

I just wanted to prove that the "difficult" platforms can be easily navigated if you simply think about your actions instead of blindly jumping around.

I wish I had "save states" back when a single jump into the room from a younger brother would freeze the NES and waste hours of hard work.

Hey Phil finish the whole game. You certainly seem quite intolerant of people expressing difficulty with this game. I finished it............with an emulator.

hold on... someone was complaining that a retro game was hard... um... of course. Games were challenging back then. Games now-a-days are too easy. I missed the difficulty of games now. Back then it game me a reason to play over and over again. Current games I put the difficulty all the way up because games are not as challenging as it was before and people always want to just move on the to next game.
