Coming off the high of upsetting highly regarded Warren G. Harding, Zanesville let down its guard just long enough for Cambridge to catch the Blue Devils sleeping.
At the Cats Lair, Zanesvilles eight-game win streak came to a screeching only 72 hours after its big win over the state-ranked Raiders. Tuesday the host Bobcats (14-5) dealt the Blue Devils a 56-50 loss, dropping them to 10-8 on the season.
Co-East Central Ohio League Champion Cambridge got the best of its former interstate 70 rival behind Ryan Hatmakers career-high 18 points. Shayne Leggett also reached double-figures with 12 points.
At halftime the game was tied 28-28, but a strong third quarter outburst saw the Bobcats lead swell to as many as 14 points in the second half.
Senior Joe Prati led Zanesville with 18 points and 11 boards. Sophomore Tanner Gibson and senior Brandon Mills each had 14 points as well.
The win marked Cambridge's first over the Blue Devils at home since the 1992-93 season
