Everyone seems to do alright handling the happy customers but it can be a serious challenge to handle a difficult customer. Essentially these people are lying. If they were so happy with the previous business they would have stayed with them. They are manipulators and chiselers. They are angling for a freebie and want to see if you are weak enough to give it to them. You are absolutey right; don't be a pushover, make them pay for what they get. Such customers need to go on your "get rid of" list. When you upgrade to better customers, dump them politely by raising their prices with a smile!
