Again, I don't have any doubts that the hardliners in Iran are nuts and could be capable of horrible things. But it's idiotic to provoke them and play into their hands politically. If you show the average Iranian that they are right to fear and revile the U.S. then they've won.

Correction: I forgot the comment you were referring to. I understand they are a threat to our interests in the region (as I said) and a threat to potential allies. I don't think they are a direct threat to us at this time. They will only become a more serious threat if we blunder and strengthen the extreme elements in Iran and fail to engage the reasonable ones.

I would submit to you that there have been few, if any, governments like the Islamic Republic. It is a singularly peculiar polity in human history in many many ways. You're simply wrong to assert that Iran views negotiation as caving in or, even more importantly, that Iran is somehow a politically monolithic entity. How is talking with an influential country in the region "getting in bed?" I made no reference to my degree because a degree means very little. Don't try to wow me with yours.

No, you're clearly not looking at the big picture. You've just asked me to forget the history of Iran in commenting on Iran. This is ludicrous. The current regime, with all its imperfections and undemocratic features, is considerably more democratic than the Shah's regime. And the truly democratic government of Mossadeq was the one we overthrew, forever tainting our reputation in that country.

If you want to PM go ahead if its what you prefer over this. It makes no difference to me.

I made no assumptions about you. I read what you wrote and commented on that position. The position is xenophobic, no matter who holds it.

Its on you not so much me if something happens of course since i live in china now. But since i do have relatives still living in the states then yes i am worried and i'm worried that many americans like yourself don't understand what the mullahs are capable of if they feel they can get away with it.
What works for one country may not work for another country. America needs to stop trying to spread democracy or republicanism. Anyways. Liberals bashed bush much more than conservatives has bashed on obama. But obama is doing stupid things now. so im sure even the democrat party will turn against him.

You don't know what you're talking about. I agree that we should not be imposing any system on other countries but it's certainly not because it couldn't work. It's because it is not our place to decide how others run their lives.
Bush was an exponentially worse president than Obama will ever be. If anything, the spineless Democratic Party is holding him back.
Listen, kid. Maybe you should go back to civics class before commenting on YouTube. Stop regurgitating what daddy and Rush say.
