Tom Ford Black Orchid Perfume/Fragrance Review by EauMG

I think Tom Ford Black Orchid is the most interesting mainstream women's fragrance on the market. And I find that it is one that you either love or hate. I'm one of the few people that merely "likes" it. I've had people tell me it is their favorite perfume ever and I've had people tell me that Black Orchid traumatized them. Hmm... I really should wear it more than I do. I love polarizing perfumes. And I love the packaging.

What do you think of it? Love or hate it? Guys that wear this, chime in, please. The florals bloom on me but I've smelled it on guys and it smells much darker and earthy on them.

Good review. This is one hell of a fragrance and as a guy I definitely feel that I can pull this off as long as I spray on in moderation. Very complex and it takes time to appreciate it. I'm developing a huge respect for Tom Ford frags from the Signature and Private Blend line. Outstanding!

@8rk7 When I first tried this, I didn't think of guys wearing it. Years later, I met a few fragrance guys that did. AND it smelled great on them. I really like the TF line. The Signatures are some of the best mainstream stuff out there.

@grimmonster100 It's almost like a curse. I pick up on the aquatic melon-cucumber and then can't stop focusing on it. It's weird to have that aquatic element over dry earth.

I like your description of this, particularly your expectation for the truffle note that didn't really happen. Brings to mind that I hope you would review Illamasqua's "Freak" perfume too? This fragrance is supposed to be on par with Ford's "Black Orchid".

awesome review, very accurate, especially the cucumber-melon bit, which is why I often compare Black Orchid to the garbage bin)) I still like Black Orchid, even though some people see it as too "blaahh".

great review, Victoria! i agree about the feminine side. i tried this once and knew right away that i couldnt rock it. lol. but i think it's very seductive on a woman. :) interesting enough, i sprayed this on Jer's 5 year old daughter once and she loved it. LOL
