@227Morgan adipose tissue = fat cells. That's alright, everything takes time :)
There are some great books about the subject (such as 80-10-10 by Dr Doug Graham) :))

I understood everything except adipose tissue, but I assume I got the meaning behind the statement. I understand the value of this system, but I think it will take me some time to get to the point of implementation.

@227Morgan Heat denatures the foods original structure, thus becoming foreign to the body (which doesn't recognize it as food) because the original bonds were broken and rebonded to form a completely different structure (a chemistry or molecular biology background would help in understand that). The new structure is toxic. Given enough time and energy the body will clean itself. If not, then it's most likely to be stored in adipose tissue.

@TheCoolVegetarian
So then I'm not sure I understand the issue of why they shouldn't be denatured before they are eaten.

@227Morgan Great question! I'll attempt to answer it. You are right, certain strong acids denature proteins (such as Acetic acid, TCA and Sulfosalicylic acid). Our gastric acid is made of hydrochloric acid and NaCl and KCl, and it's function is to unfold the proteins so that the digestive enzymes can then break down the macromolecules into their smaller building blocks. So yeah, food that reaches our stomach is altered but solely with the purpose of being further broken down and later absorbed.

@TheCoolVegetarian
Don't the acids in our stomach/digestive juices denature the foods anyway once you eat them?

@TheCoolVegetarian We live in such a cold climate, I often steam veggies lightly in the wintertime and thought I was doing okay. I shall have to rethink this.
