NYCTA Exclusive! : Designline "Citibus" Eco-Saver IV Hybrid 1302 On The M5 @ Houston Street

The Designline " Citibus" Eco-Saver IV Hybrid has tested out of MJQ and is now testing out of Manhattanville Depot. It will be tested on every route including the M2, M3, M4 & M104!

A 35ft version of this bus was tested and it was successful, hence allowing the order of the new Designline buses.

About 30 or so buses will be at MJQ with the possibility of knocking off some of the TMCs that they have. Only up to 8 buses will be here by this year and running in service.

Engine and Transmission specifications are as follows

Capstone C30 MicroTurbine
Bosch Rexroth 120kW Traction Motors

This is by far the most quiet hybrid out in service today. The Orion VII OGs & NGs are noisemakers compared to these buses.

This bus was also on routes like the M6, M9, M42, M27, M50 and M98.

Cool video. The Houston Street part of the M5 is a lot smoother now than back in 2007.
