I work with lions so I frequently hear the lions roar up close! In reality the lions roar is much more impressive than any video could ever show. The sound goes straight trough your body when you are standing right in front of a roaring lion, especially when he's in his night enclosure (that means inside where the sound can't escape into open air). The lions we have are dispersed all over the place so when one lion starts roaring you can hear the responses in the distance. VERY impressive!

I had a very similar roar while we were siting in your camp where there are no fences, no game ranger and one of these big boys was 50 meters from us and our tents (on the ground) felt like they were next to him and the 4x4 felt the same all at night. Central Kalahari in Botswana. Incredible.
