@ludosophist one gameplay difference is that in alpha centauri units are more customizable: you can invent new units by mixing up the powers of other units, that's a great feature that no other game of its type has afaik

Yeah, Alpha Centauri is the best. They're pretty much the same game though. More of a content touch that pulls SMAC in first place.
