Entering the mines "849" finds himself feeling largely outnumbered by the unknown enemy force; all of the fellow earthlings he's come across doesn't seem to have much to put up against it. However, not all is turned against him as he hasn't met the native species yet...

Big d'oh at the end of the video when I flew into the lava and stupidly dodged into it again.

Yeah, that encounter is one of those favorite moments in gaming that's been stuck to me ever since I first played the game back when it was fairly new.

The lava bath was an intense moment but seems to be a fluke given your consistently competent play.

I recall when I played this level 10 years ago (on a P3-533 with a Voodoo2 in SLI, IIRC) the methodical fashion those lights switching off in gave me a sense of horrible doom. I was greatly relieved to find it was just a single new baddy, and at the same time amazed that it actually was dodging my shots! I'd already met the Railgun dude in Q2, but this Skaarj seemed a lot more intelligent.
