@57dogsbody I can imagine Wynton is the kind of musician that doesn't mind being in the background when it calls for it...and knows when to shine when something needs some shine. No solo needed here...sometimes knowing when not to speaks volumes

I think it's tasteful since too many solos makes a vocal piece seems like showcase rather than art.

It makes you forget the vocalist in the solo segment.

@abzgroupinc And i forgot one thing, in his last years (Miles Davis), he played in concert with Wynton Marsalis (not at the same time), all people could agree that Miles prestation (with his band) was far better than Wynton prestation...

I never say that Miles Davis was better than Wynton Marsalis, both are on the top in different ways, but Miles was the best to use "silence". Personnally i think Miles Davis played at his best in the 60's.

@DVDKC Miles augmented his music with a great deal of facial drama because of his painful soul... but Wynton plays circles around Miles. he is a far better musician.
