The world's top international news editors and executives write a letter condemning a report in The Nation, that claims a Wall Street Journal Correspondent is a spy. What is the evidence and what sources are used to make this claim? Or this is a case of shoddy journalism, possibly endangering lives? NewsEye speaks with the Editor of The Nation, Shirin Mazari, and the General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists, Aiden White, to get their analysis.

  • she talks english in a bloody desi style but i guess that enough to impress so many loser in pak! its an ashame she even didnt pick wel spoken english accent.....she speaks like a school dropout....

  • i have seen her talking to people in UK in totally different manner...Hey miss thick ...someone told me ur parent came to UK in a boat asking for asylum in 60s!When she talks to western people her tone is so different.... I am sure saima is a wannabe spy...bloody attention seeker?i wish someone brand her a spy all over pakistan media.

  • @AZKTahir I would suggest you read her biography on wikipedia

  • @AZKTahir You really need to get your facts right. Shireen Mazari was indeed removed from that position in may 2008, 13 months before the end of her contract supposedly at the insistence of the United States because she was not serving US interests. Similarly she was removed from almost all previously held positions in print media due to US pressure and she maintains that her life is constantly under threat because she is a vocal critic of the United States policies in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

  • C'mon, it's the game of espionage, and Western governments playing it hope ppl in the Orient will play it by their rules???

Yes, perhaps the Pakistani govt has no substantiating evidence this time to implicate the correspondence in question, but it doesn't matter, it counter-strikes any spying attempt by playing by its own rule as in this case! :D So, Western govts had better take note of this: ppl of the Orient are NOT gonna comply with ur rules, and we're gonna play the game OUR way! :P

  • unnamed sources are always used by NYTimes and Western news sources

  • What about Shirin Mazari herself? She is head of so-called research center, funded by Pakistan Foreign Office. She is one of the beneficiary of the policy that promote terrorism. There fore she don't have any creditability herself. There fore she is under the impression that every body else must be doing the same.

  • The DAWN anchor is trying to be assertive.. as she has already been given the company policy line and instead of taking Shireen M Mazaris opinion which seems very plausible to say the least she wants to push her own opinion in... I believe the Mazari lady s telling the truth.
