  • how big is your nozzle?

  • I would not reccomend using KMnO4 in any of your compositions, as it is highly unstable. It does make an extremely powerful flash powder(and extremely sensitive) though.

  • I've managed to convince him to let me get MgAl so now, i am using MgAl, KNO3 and S flash powder however i am now persuading him to let me get KMnO4, potassium permanganate/

  • You should get fine aluminium and make a potassium perchlorate/aluminium flash powder. 70/30.

Working with perchlorates is the safest way to make flash powders. Tell your dad it is and you can buy aluminium =D

  • Yer, Dad's not letting me buy magnalium for flash powder :(. I'm getting really anoyed.

  • cool i rather use that kind of mix kno3-sugar than bp for lift charge thanks for the tip...for new years eve i used .5 gr of armstrong´s mix as a brake charge although i know it´s a dangerous mix to work with it really save the night lol

  • I didn't use flash powder. I only mixed potassium nitrate and sugar together in a coffe grinder (6:4) and then sprinkled some home-made black powder into that mix until it because a light grey colour. That's my rocket fuel, kno3 and sugar with like a small amount of black powder. Kno3:(dont know the chemical name for sugar)+Bp(until it's very light grey)

  • i made some flash powder with magnesium and kno3 but i haven't been able to make it pop...you said you're using kno3 with a spinkle of bp and it kinda confused me because i'm using bp as a lift charge, and i didn't know that potassium nitrate(kno3) can be used as a lift charge...what's on the mix

  • Hi, thanks. I'm using potassium nitrate in my rockets with a spinkle of black powder mixed in to get a nice trail. I did attempt a break charge with black powder tightly packed at one end however it didn't work that well, you can see this on the first video. I'm attempting to make aluminium right now so i can make flash powder then put that in a cardboard tube and attatch it to the rocket with a fuse coming out from the rocket, a report. I'll post a video of what it does if i get to make FP

  • hey so you're just using bp as a propellant right? have you done any rocket with a brake charge(the stuff that makes boom) and if you have whats the mix you´ve used...nice rockets by the way!!
