[Channel 4 News] China's Three Gorges Dam Project

Lindsey Hilsum reports (2008.01.14) on how China's Three Gorges Dam is bedevilled by landslips and pollution.

"The project could lead to catastrophe". Not the words of a dissident environmentalist, but the official Chinese news agency in a story about the Three Gorges Dam.

For the first time since the project was started in the 1980s, government scientists have started to express concern about landslides and water pollution caused by the biggest dam in the world.

But the government also wants to tout the Three Gorges Dam as China's greatest source of renewable energy.

I'm sure if this is built in the US on the Mississippi, nobody will mention any shit. All the documentary would do is glorifying such project, saying how great it would be for the people in New Orleans and creating water for dry areas in eastern Kansas and stuff. Biased junk against China... At least make an effort to make it less obvious.

Also, if someone doesn't like this comment and tries to go against the UK; our rivers are tiny, and weather is shit. Our best hope is a wind-turbine which don't produce much.

@penfolduk78 Don't let harsh words turn you around to what the truth behind the dam is. Hydro electric power is no longer considered as a renewable energy source due to its impact on biodiversity and negative impact on human health. Please do some scientific research before you come to the conclusion that this is propaganda. If it helps, I'm also a Chinese that looks down on western media.
