Join City Year Los Angeles on Friday, October 1 for an inspiring kick-off event as 200 young leaders pledge a year of full-time service for the students and communities of Los Angeles. They will join more than 1,750 other diverse 17-24 year olds in 20 communities across America who will also be sworn in as City Year corps members that day. In Los Angeles this year, City Year corps members will work as tutors, mentors and role models to make a difference in the lives of more than 4,000 LAUSD students.

I'm lost , why are some wearing the yellow jackets.

@coolasschick - Great question! In Los Angeles and San Jose, corps members wear yellow jackets because of the gang associations with the color red. We're hoping that one day, through our work, we can win back that color in the neighborhoods we serve.
