This is one of the most intellingent thing played with a guitar, I mean, the whole concept behind the notes, the noise.

Who's talking sound quality? Not me. A waterlogged stage. 45 year old technology. Mics incapable of the task/ too loud. Engineers/sound men burnt out after nearly a week of endless work/partying. Of course the sound quality sucked. I was talking of the historical impact Hendrix made. His originality and talent for the times. I guarantee you this. Had Jimi never existed, rock music would not look/sound like it does today. This was HUGE. To a 13 y/o, it was monstrously huge. A different world.

I born in 1991, and I'm not really into this "classic rock" thing. So I really give a damn about this "oh hendrix changed history and he's awesome and stuff".

What I'm seeing and listening here...is an extremely remarkable guitar solo, and I don't care if this is XVIII century, 1969 or 2007...this IS REMARKABLE.

The point of the song is that you can't make it up- Hendrix took the national anthem and ran it through a meat grinder. He painted over its clear, prideful notes with the sounds of rockets firing, machine gun fire, and bomb blasts. He took something that was a symbol of the country, and defaced it in the way the country had been defaced by the chaos and upheaval of the war, the Civil Rights fight, and the generational conflict. He reinvented it to show the country as it was.

No disrespect here but I couldn't make out half the shit he was playing. Maddison's version of this just kicks ass so bad. And I'm not even American.

This is awesome, it wasn't because he was high, the parts where he goes off the national anthem are supposed to symbolise his feelings on the war in Vietnam. If you listen you can hear aeroplanes and bombs dropping, I thought this was common knowledge.

Not bashing, simply stating my opinion. Like I said, I think he's an amazing guitarist but I don't think this rendition of the national anthem is all it's cracked up to be. Never did I say I didn't like this rendition.
