Your story is impressive. That curiosity as a child upon hearing a foreign language is just marvelous isn't it? Even as an adult I still get fascinated when I hear people converse in foreign tongues.

awesome! you're inspirational. I'm a native English speaker... recently learned Castellano from Buenos Aires that I'm now conversational with..trying to really become an expert with it, eventually.. but I'm also playing with Italiano... However, I can't help but wondering if learning Italiano now will impede me from really reaching fluency with Castellano. Any advice?

As for Castellano and Italiano...even I have trouble keeping them separate. My advice would be to focus on either one or the other, perhaps changing focus every two weeks. (In other words: do two weeks of "puro espanol", than two of "puro italiano", then back to espanol...) But you need to play around with this, and see if it works for you.
