Looks like something you would see at a slaughter house, just saying.

not too much respect for pollock on youtube. there could be a reason for that. all you pollock loving gringos should check out a guy called francis bacon if you want to see the best 20century painter

You need to get some action, shoot a real gun, wear a respirator, and rethink the whole neo-Pollack angle (these priorities go for any college student attempting to "action paint" in the 21st C.).
-
For Pollock, his action paintings were an experience in not only abstract expressionism, but also in having a spiritual and deeply human experience. Like someone already mentioned, he would dance around while painting, his body, hand, paint stick all worked harmoniously to create his works. What's more, the patterns that are found on his canvases are said to mimic patterns found in nature. So we can deduce that his awareness of self, of dance, of nature, and of paint splatter were in unison.

There is a guy in my state who already does this and sells his work.

Pollock is... Pollock and you are not Pollock.
It's a very strange and violent manner to paint.
Pollock was dancing on his canevas, you; you are only shooting.
Neverless,the result is not bad

I dig this. Very cool. 5 stars bro.
I dunno mang, Pollock never painted that much upright, most of the time the canvas is on the floor and paint drips from top to bottom not in a random manner. His feelings and thoughts moving his wrists...he controlled the paint, and not vice versa...and he's always moving around the canvas while painting. Nice try though...the end result doesn't look like any of Pollock's work. Did you use house paint? or acrylic? ... it looks like you made a mess on the floor.

this project wasn't intended to look like anything pollock did...i'm not trying to emulate anyone by any means. it was latex based house paint.

let me elaborate on my previous comment. your whole idea to emulate a jackson pollock is trite. its people like you who mindlessly commodify and make it cool to revive the drip jackson pollock motif (this mostly occurs at community college art programs). also, the fact that you are using a pressurized gun while mimicking him as a homage is insulting. pollock placed his canvas on the ground anyways.

i never intended to emulate pollock. i clearly stated that the project at hand was to create a mechanism that created marks on a surface without the use of the hand. hence, "mechanized." it seems you're completely overlooking the principle that one can learn by doing something that has already been done. you can look at a painting all day, but only learn something about it if you try it yourself.

i'm sure if he were alive today, he really would be insulted by someone trying to learn more about his own studies through practice, wouldn't he.

pollock's technique: grab tubes of paint...squeeze them as you dance over the canvas...
very strange concept for me.
i like his paintings, but i wonder...
