  • I think Shabana Azmi is a brilliant actress. I would have like to see her in more American movies, just because I just recently in the last five years have been exposed to Indian movies. She is truly beautiful inside and out. I would love to meet her and get her autograph. She was great in Fire and I like the way she didn't let culture or religion dictate the type of roles she accepted.

  • This film has reformed many of us.

  • When I look at some of her other cinematic efforts like 'Fire' and another movie where she acts in the role of a strange woman, I think Shabana Azmi is still acting in too soft a role, often even catering to sexual explotations by male members of film society. 'Fire' wanted to zoom in on spicy scenes of lesbianism which she catered to, for example. Instead of such shows I think tougher moods/rasas are needed where women aren't shown as docile, seductive beings predominantly.

  • When I compare this actress with Rekha I can see why, even though Rekha had more physical beauty, Shabana Azmi got promoted more. It is most probably Islamic bias that wanted to show a Muslim woman succeed while a Hindu woman goes down as an object of eveybody's "lust" (as they like to call their sexual impulses or emotions) in an abyss of secretive love affairs. I don't think any actress who is not aware of such set-ups can call herself a feminist yet.

  • I am surprised that this actress calls the movie Mahesh Bhatt's movie. He directed the movie but that doesn't make the movie his, does it? Besides, how can an actress feel so much emotion when she knows that it's not her reality but just a role that she is acting out? Do they not become desensitized to reality and live more as cinematic beings? Pretending in front of cameras becomes more real than reality itself, doesn't it?

  • Shabhana is definitely a good actress....but I think she got fame and awards just bcos she acted in bollywood....there are brilliant actress in south like Saritha, Rohini, Radhika, Radha, Sripriya...who were very popular and lauded, but never recognized nationally just bcos they did tamil films :-(

The same film was made in tamil and revathy doing the role....

  • Once I was watching this video and stopped it very soon because I needed to see Arth in order to understand what was so special about it to have changed the life of an actress whom I respect so much. Now I understand and feel so thankful for having the opportunity to see Shabana's work on it. She's brilliant in everything she does.

  • You are a gem, Shabhana. Isnt it true that Indian woman are so innocent and so unselfish - This movie made me cry!

  • Arth is a good film. Performance by SA and SP is out of the box.
