Classic old-time fiddle tune, rendered here on 5-string banjo and played claw-hammer style. There's a wealth of these videos better than mine, but this is just my contribution. This song was the basis for some of Aaron Copeland's work in "Rodeo." Feel free to stomp along!

  • whats characteristic of illinois clawhammer?

  • @sanpalag10 Ha, good question. Nothing really. It's where I was born, so for a while I called my style 'Illinois clawhammer.' I guess if it sounds like me it might be Illinois-style = ).

  • Great sound, I wish my crappy banjo could produce something like that (or perhaps it's my skill that's lacking)

What tuning are you using here? Double C?

  • @guttfunk Yep, double C. Don't let anyone talk down about your instrument or your playing. Like most things, it takes time! Good luck!
