Neill Blomkamp is a South African born, Vancouver, BC-based director of short films and advertisements. Blomkamp employs a documentary-style, hand-held, cinéma vérité technique, blending seamlessly with naturalistic and photo-realistic computer-generated imagery effects. He directed a series of three short films set in the Halo universe (known collectively as Landfall) and was hired to direct the movie adaptation of the series before financial problems forced the project to be indefinitely postponed. In 2008 he won the Cannes Lions 2008 - Film Lions- Grand Prix for the HALO "combat" web commercial.

In 2003 Blomkamp was commissioned to illustrate photo-real future aircraft for Popular Science's "Next century in Aviation" and in 2004 was commissioned to illustrate "The Future of the Automobile"

  • @96lagos

This was the preliminary version of District 9.

    Same Director.

  • This is District 9 ??

  • Why did they ever go for a Halo movie what they had this treasure laying around?

I'm so glad the Halo movie failed.

  • This guy is a true visionary. Looking forward to Elysium

  • We need more directors like Neill..

  • @MachineBeast111 yep, that's our guy ;) that's Sharlto Copley. he's gorgeous, isn't he?

  • I like how realistic this and District 9 feel. Sure the aliens are once again impossibly humanoid, but the social and political motives behind it all are so well thought out that this movie is easily one of the best I've seen.

  • this looks cheap and that big suit thing looks like something outta power rnagers pretty bad CG but this is really good
