After building the regenerative radio in my previous video, I rewired the 6GC7 tube as an audio amplifier. I offer this video as proof-of-concept that it worked, since this is my first vacuum tube audio amplifier.

There's not much else to say about it other than I chose to play "The Easy Winners" as the song.

  • What did you use for an output transformer? I made a pretty badass valve amplifier XD I was so cheap... I went looking around my house for power transformers and found one with a 2k primary impedance! Thats perfect for the 12b4a that I'm using :P

  • I think I was using a random audio transformer that I had pulled out of an old ham radio some years ago. It works well enough.

  • Did you create this, is it possible for me to create one too?. Thanks for posting.

  • Yes, I did create this. If you can get your hands on the electronics and you know a little bit of electronics, you too could build it. I scrounged the parts from old electronics. I'd just caution that you be careful around the power supply; the vacuum tube requires about 250 volts.

  • Awesome! Have you got a simple schematic?

  • What a cool project. Like going back in time.

  • kt-88 is a great choice, check my videos with a kt-88 powered amp.. they hit hard!

  • maybe just a hifi stereo speaker is in order?

  • good job with the circuit work but it sounds like crap man.... try and shoot for hifi next time, esp from a a cd player!

  • try using a kt88 or its equivanlent to see if this can be louder.kt88's and a very deadly strong tube.

i know a rastafarian man that build an audio amp from them and the bass made his hair straight. (Serios)

  • Thank you, it's sounds good by the way, and I like that tune. Thanks.
