Camfed's Learning Circle project is a participatory filmmaking venture, based in northern Ghana, involving a group of local women and young girls who are all experiencing the harsh realities of discrimination either because of their disability, lack of education and poverty or through their work with marginalised communities. The group makes films on pressing social issues that affect their lives and screens them in the local community to stimulate debate and change.
'Azara' is a film about treatment of disabled members of the community, and focuses on a young girl named Azara who is supported by CAMFED to return to school.
The Learning Circle project is funded by Camfed -- an international organization working to solve long-term health, economic and social issues in Africa by investing in girls' education.
