Jahrhundert.

  • According to Spitta and CPE Bach, JS Bach vernerated Riencken, Lubeck and Buxtehude, whom he endeavoured to emulate. Now, from these very same sources we see that 'Herr Bach' played with 'great speed' and 'fiery soul' when he improvised. Indeed, Schnitger was affraid for his instrument since 'Herr Bach pulled out all the stops'. I rather think therefore, that slavish adherence to the skelletal scores left by Buxtehude defeats his music. This performance approximates a freedom which we have lost!

  • Kein Hörgenuss, da Video nicht in Ordnung

  • Very good! That is the true barouqe spirit!

  • @NorbertZF Couldn't agree more. And choice of stops follows the trend.

  • Too fast!

So much good stuff is being lost!

  • Visually, looks like someone trying to imitate the "Phantom of the Opera" with all the head and body motions going on. Or is that a 19th Century Romanticism version on how to perform North German Baroque organ works? Another thing: it's too fast and not very musical. Start with listening to the "old" Helmut Walcha recordings.

  • Très belle interprétation sur un orgue magnifique.
