The new 2011 Renault Latitude

The Renault Latitude is a future executive car announced by Renault in June 2010 and will be released in 2011. It will debut at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show and it will replace the unsucsessful Renault Vel Satis and compete with the likes of the Citroen C6, BMW 5-Series and Audi A6

If you have a penchant for big, luxurious Renaults - and hell, who doesn't? - times have been tough since the departure of the Vel Satis in 2009.

But now Renault is back in the luxo-game with this, the Latitude - the first car, to our knowledge, to be named after a nouveau-hippy festival.

Big luxurious Renault fans rejoice! At least, rejoice if you live in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Gulf, Mexico or Russia, for those are the markets where the Latitude will initially go on sale.

Not Europe, and not Britain: Renault is yet to decide whether to sell the Latitude on these shores, doubtless dissuaded by the less-than-stellar sales of the Vel Satis.

The Latitude isn't a replacement for the Laguna. Oh no, it's bigger than that: at more than five metres long, it's far closer to a Citroen C6.

Architecture is shared with the Laguna, but the Latitude is most closely related to the Korean-only Samsung SM5. We're promised a 'silent ride' and 'a particularly precise chassis'. No word on residual values, curiously.

Renault is expected to decide by the end of the year whether to offer the Latitude in the UK. The petition starts here...

what has to do with the Vel Satis?????? do you see any similarity between the 2 models? This looks like a Passat from the front , and like a Honda Acord from the back... but i have a feeling , that i won't be as unsuccesfull as the Vel Satis...it's a sedan afther all , with a very comercial design...so , people (with no brain) will buy it.

is there no design ambition in renault designers or what?? this car looks just like a chinese car like "cherry" or "BYD", how can this be supposed to fight with A6 and bmw 5 and classe E ???

Je suis tellement decu par Renault et Peugeot, j'espere qu'ils vont virer tout le monde et repartir a zero. Cette Latitude sort tout droit du debut des annees 1990. C'est pitoyable de banalite. Renault zero!
