  • I had similar thoughts on YT when watching this vid. I think it partly depends on the spirit with which you take part, though. If you're here to learn from others, and to make your own message clearer, then you're open to otherness. But of course, it is all too easy, and probably encouraged by the nature of the medium, to use it as a mirror which we use to "get off" on our own image and in which we zap when something doesn't correspond to our desires, thus remaining in the "closed circle".

  • yeah you're right. even a video that get's posted can be a closed loop of narcissism if you're only doing it to have others tell you that you're right. but even if that's true, the medium is forcing this mirroring process to occur. taking a good look at yourself in the "mirror of other people" seems like a highly charged and possibly transformative experience. i suppose it all depends on the commitment of the tuber.

  • even if you look at your self and talk to your self and call it a "closed loop" it has absolutely NOTHING to do with narcissism.. regards.

  • GOOD STUFF MAN! keep on thinking dude. you should read the culture of Narcissism

  • satre said that an individual must belong to society or a group in order to exist.. being human is essentially a social act.. we are social beings but it's pretty safe to assume that in order to survive within groups we must have shared moral codes to compromise with each other if we don't then it is easy to become cynical and sceptical about the "others" whoever they are.. and we also have the problems of personal perseption a great example of this is being blind

  • you seem a little insecure in your close loop, you touch your face a lot. but it was something t think about, i enjoyed this video

  • goodstuff mate

  • I really like this commentary. Five stars.

  • Yes - I think a lot depends on how the person is before they come to YT. You don't always control what you encounter here though - sometimes people send back pretty harsh comments. Just subbed to your vids - perhaps I could persuade you to take a look at mine. I'll be posting two more tomorrow on philosophy and linguistics.
