I think this guy has ultimate creativity and his music is iconic and stands the test of time. However, I think it's unfair of some posters to decry current artists - there's many good ones around to be fair.

He could've pretty much stopped after Ommadawn, and easily secured his genius. His music makes me weep, in a VERY good way.

The more you grow tired of today's robotic music (made by robots for robots...), this is where you'll end up. In the mid 1970s, Mike Oldfield was recording in total isolation in the Welsh hills, divorced from external and commercial influences, with every note wrung out in a genuine labour of love. It really was mind-blowing stuff!
