  • yuo could explain what you do... cause this is a bad tutorial since whe dont know what you are doing. the effect is awesome, and the way you did it is awesome too, but you could explain it while you do it... ;)

  • Well, I would write for hours if I should get all the information here. But I guess I could take the main parts in the description.

  • This is a tutorial in how to make a Displacement map that we will use in part 2 to create realistic water.

    How to:

    1. Make a new file (1000 pixels wide and 2000 pixels high)

    2. Go into Filter, Noise, Add Noise 400% Gaussian, Monocromatic.

    3. Go into Filter, Blur, Gaussian Blur, 2 pixels.

    4. Go into the red channel (Channels are available on a button over the layers)

    5. Go into Filter, Stylize, Emboss, 180 Angle, 1 pixel Hight, 500% Amount.

    6. Repeat 5 but with on the Green Channel with 90 Angle.

  • 7.Go back to Layers, Double click "Background" to unlock it.

    8. Press Control+T (Command+T) to get into Transform.

    9. Right click, press Perspective.

    10. Drag the lower part of the picture out to around 600% W (Can see on upper part of the screen)

    11.Crop away the area outside the canvas with Ctrl+A / Command+A and Image > Crop.

  • 12. Reduce the size of the image to a square (1000 by 1000 pixels). You can do that by going into Image, Image Size, also Unlock Constrain Proportions.

  • 13. Channel Green, Q to Quick Mask, Gradient, White to Black, But this time on just the upper part of the screen (Just watch the video at the same time), Fill the Selection with medium gray. (128)

    14. Go check out Part 2 of this tutorial in how to use this displacement map because we are done! :)
