Karen And Richard Carpenter On "This Is Your Life"--Part: 2

Karen and Richard (The Carpenters) were on the television show "This Is Your Life" in 1971. Still very early in their lives and career, which was rare because many of the people that would get this honor were in their later years. But all the better for us huge Carpenters fans! Karen (whom I think is the most beautiful, most loveliest and most talented woman that ever lived) is looking stunning as always. I don't think that she wiped her gorgeous smile off of her face once! Richard is looking real handsome too, as he always does. Karen and Richard very much loved being apart of this. Richard said that his only complaint was that his mother would embarrass the hell out of them. Haha!

The ending, though, always makes me cry. It just reminds me that the great times are over and that very gorgeous, very lovely, and very talented woman is not here to enchant us anymore. But atleast we are still enchanted with what her and Richard have given to us.

@madeyes4u - very interesting... Sounds like you stumbled upon a very good read. She obviously had too much class to bash her publicly, even if deserved. Nowadays celebrities are encouraged to trash their families for quick cash.

@finster1968 Honestly, I think Karen didn't care about being a celebrity. I don't think it effected her in a direct way. As much as some people hate to point the finger, the real root of her problems was her mother (if you want to call her a mother.)

@madeyes4u - Thanks for that, I'll check it out. I understand what you're saying about fans vs. real relationships. It's a shame how the desire to be perfect can overwhelm somebody and take a life. Only 3 people appreciating us for who we really are is probably true for many (or less than 3....). So you have to learn to appreciate yourself. But I guess being a celebrity makes it more difficult.

i remember the night this was on. I think it was late spring early summer of 1971.
