  • am I the only one that thinks of Sherlock Holmes every time I hear this?

  • Sylvia Marcovici represents those great past violinists who just deserve more exposures. Her videos look and sound more inspiring than all the current popular violinsts: vengerov, bell, chang, hahn just name the over hyped current violinists.

  • Simplemente maravillosa y muy hermosa

  • The conductor is Robert Houlihan(Ireland) & not Simon Rattle as previously mentioned in older posts.

  • OMG I'm in love! (at my age?)

  • @HaagenDazzle She plays an Albani violin from the early 1800s (according to the blurb that was on her old agent's website.) The sound is not as robust as a Guarnieri but it's pretty good, I agree.

  • @unclejuniorsoprano Uncle Junior, thank you very much for your valuable comments! SM is my all time No.1 violinist.

  • @unclejuniorsoprano Thank you for your analysis in depth. I watched all her video clips over and over again, and I never get tired of her music.

  • @homeofcats I like this violinist & posted a review. She plays nobly & is a pleasure to watch. The Beethoven is a relatively easy concerto to play technically. There are no double-stops in the entire 1st movement. I've heard it played by at least 100 different violinists. Heifetz always amazes me with his unique style of playing, but this concerto is played best with a deep, rich sound. Marcovici achieves that with whatever instrument she's playing. She plays with confidence & good taste.

  • Everything about this performance is elegant. Marcovici plays with a full, mellow tone. The tempo is perfect; not rushed, allowing the music to permeate the concert hall. Her playing reminds me of the great Christian Ferras. The Beethoven Violin Concerto is not a virtuoso piece but music on the highest plane of nobility. I would most definitely pay to see & hear SM perform this music even though I've seen it thousands of times. That is the highest praise a person can give. Bravo!

  • @grumiaux0 You expressed what I wanted to say.
