Ōban Star-Racers is a French/Japanese animated television series created by Savin Yeatman-Eiffel of Sav! The World Productions.

In the year 2082, Earth has been invited to compete in the Great Race of Ōban, an intergalactic race whose winner can be granted any wish in the world — even bringing back a loved one. The invitation comes from the Avatar, a mysterious entity who ends hostilities between Earth and the sinister race of the Crogs, in return for Earth's entry into the race. Eva Wei, an Earth student, escapes boarding school to find her father, Don Wei, president of Wei Racing and the best race manager in the world. Having left his daughter in the care of the boarding school for many years without ever visiting, Don Wei does not seem to recognize Eva as his daughter. Unable to tell her father who she really is, she lands a job as a mechanic in his team under the name "Molly", a name chosen from a convenient poster on a crate in the hangar. When Wei Racing is ordered by the government to represent Earth at Ōban, Molly stows away as they are taken to a far-off planet. During the first race, the Whizzing Arrow, the Earth Star-Racer ship, crashes due to sabotage. Its star pilot, Rick Thunderbolt, becomes unable to race. After finding that the gunner, Jordan Wilde, makes a miserable pilot, Molly steals the ship and enters the next race. Don Wei grudgingly decides that the only one who can replace Rick is Molly. Haunted by the death of her mother — a famous star-racer — and the harsh "reunion" with her father, Molly is determined to win so she can be with her parents once again.

  • I'm deeply offended that even with the series now on Netflix, they don't have this song as the theme (They used the Japanese Theme instead). I had to hunt this down just to see if it was as awesomely fitting as I seemed to remember it being.

  • I love this anime, and for years after I watched it, this music stayed with me. I wish I could find a longer version of it, but thank you for posting this.

  • ...i m molly x aikka fan i think he should come to the earth for her and and ya know >.> make her princess of his planet and live happily ever after the end ._.

  • @Dragime well that is a good ending I like it alot but you have to give the creators some credit. Even though they didn't fulfill the Jordan/Molly pair, they did give Molly a better life after her mother died and her father abandoned her. She got to live with her father but lost her true love. She would have been even sadder if she had to leave Jordan and her father behind for 10,000 years while she rules the galaxy

  • @texastank97 Even though I agree that the ending was good, I still think that Eva/Molly should have died but then Jordan throws her in the triangle thingy and she takes the power of the Avatar to save her life, but before then she meets her mum on the other side and they exchange their final goodbyes or she drags her mum back over to her Oban or something. I just think in the ending she should have seen her mum one last time.

  • @AnimeGaming The ending wasn't crap. If you think about it that was the best possible ending there could have been

  • Anyone know where the full version is?

  • *Sigh* I want it to be longer and I want it downloadable :(

  • @MsHatakee1 the original is only 1 minute lol

  • @Dramactica It's about the same as the Japanese version of the opening. This song is about not giving up, which is about what half the episodes are based around since the Earth team are usually behind the other teams and are pretty isolated. If you look at the english translation of the Japanese lyrics, they're saying pretty much the same thing only using more words.

As I said, the Japanese version just isn't intense enough to describe this series. It's not bad or anything, just too light.
