why can't money buy election?

Ron Paul got poor support because most Americans are idiots. But can you imagine what would happen if most Americans were like the ones posting comments to this video?! We would have this thing turned around and the government would be serving us and not the other way around!
No amount of media brainwashing would be able to penetrated our reasoning, no amount of campaign funds could buy elections. Only those, that advocate freedom would be elected even if they had little to no media coverage!
