Daughter of Smoke and Bone book review + rant

3.5/5 stars. Though it really should be 3.... damn you, romance!!!! I could have and should have said a great deal more in my ranting, but I didn't have the time. I am sorry I didn't articulate my feelings, and my issues, in a more precise fashion.

Get over yourself, it's so obvious that you are hating on the book just because you enjoy hating it just for the sake of it. That's how it is in all of your book reviews, you just find something to bitch about because you like going against popular opinion and it makes you feel special to be a "rebel". It's pathetic really. Just because a book has romance you decide to hate on it. It's a useless review from a bitter person filled with hate. And you're not even as good a writer as Laini Taylor.

@darklucette Firstly, I never claimed to be a writer, let alone a writer with Laini Taylor's talents. And I know it must seem as though I dislike things just to stand apart, but it is my honest opinion, that it all, and everyone is entitled to think/feel their own way about any given material. I am sorry to come off as a bitch, but I was simply expressing my opinions, and I never meant to anger anyone in the process. There's no need to watch my videos, let alone call me pathetic.

It seems like you just enjoy hating a book that gets overall positive reviews, almost as if you want to sabotage a book's otherwise good reputation. If you don't like reading about romance, then you shouldn't be reading books with romance in it. It's pathetic that you are insulting the book JUST because it has a genre that you don't like in it. You purposely read books with genres that you don't like just so you can talk negative about them.

@darklucette I know that it must come across as a statement or somesuch - I understand this, because people have said similar things to me in the past on a variety of issues. I apologise for how I appear in my videos, especially when I rant, but I can't apologise for my opinions, because they ARE sincerely my own, whether they seem this way or not. I understand. I gave this book a 5 star rating because I genuinely loved it all the way through. I am also big on romance, but the type of romance presented in this novel was jarring. When it happened, I was just trying to figure out what happened to my awesome ass characters, they all seemed to turn to mush without reason or warning. If it were split into two books, I definitely wouldn't have liked the second half as much.

Renee, I also didn't enjoy this book. There have been so many books that everyone seems to be raving about but to me the books haven't been very good. Gladly, because I've noticed a lot of the new books aren't living up to their hype I've been checking more books out from the library. I kept trying to force myself to continue this book but I just couldn't. I didn't even make it to the romance part so.... Anyway, please keep being honest. I'm a big fan. Peace!

It comes down to this: It's your opinion and to insult you for that is childish. That's why you're uploading videos to your own channel, to give your own perspective. You've always been clear they're YOUR opinions, and an individual's opinion is usually not everyone's. Don't feel bad for that. If you want to rant about the books you dislike & not post the ones you do, it's up to you!

I myself have read books that "everyone" loves and I just DON'T GET IT, so I understand where you're coming from.

Love at first sight is such a common thing in books, it's so unnecessary. But I found out that a lot of people are really into the idea of fated love, that's why it keeps being done.

I was hearing a lot of praise for this book, even though I never had any idea of what it was about. Thanks for telling a good synopsis Renee :) I'll check it out for these cool things you were enjoying :)

pfft people have way to much time on there hands if there going to insault. Tell it to the truth renee. Honest is better than needless flattery. Thank you for being honest and giving this book a fair review in your opinion. It makes the choosing process much easier and with people who arent hung up on slandering for your choice, it helps in every aspect. The romance aspect in novels at the moment seem dense.

I did not like this book, I got bored with it and put it down and traded it with someone. lol so I agree with you a lot. not everyone loves this book. :p I sure didn't.

I feel your pain Renee! Why does bad romance suck the fun out of a good storyline?! D: I have not read this book, and with the predictable romance, I may hold off till I hear more about the next books in the series.

And if you thought people don’t care what I have to say, then why the heck did you read my comment? Just to point one thing out, Renee loves Phantom of the Opera which is heavily romance-based. So do your research on someone before lambasting them.
