Well, Dennis DeMille isn't saying you shouldn't spend money on a good spotting scope. What he's saying is that you should spend your money first on the items that will directly affect your shooting performance. That means a good rifle, good ammo, and a good sling. After that, then getting yourself a shooting coat might be a good move.

I shot with Dennis in 1993 at Camp Perry when he and another young Marine SSGT By the Name of Clint Haurbeck. I learned a lot that few days.
