Please visit http://PianoFromScratch.com to view all of the lessons and download the sheet music.

In this lesson, we look at "reminder" accidentals, some really cool fingering secrets, and tips on playing 2 voices in one hand.

You can download a PDF of the score as part of the Suite Bergamasque from IMSLP.org here: http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/02907

You can also download the MusicReader version of Clair de lune itself here: http://airturn.com/musicreader-library/piano-solos/debussy-clair-de-lune-1905...
MusicReader is a program that gives you the ability to annotate your score with digital ink, just like I do on these lesson videos. For more information about MusicReader, please visit http://airturn.com/musicreader/musicreader

  • Love your lessons... but I wish you just taught the "key' first,

and THEN the notes with keys

and layer it on like that.

because often times, I can't see the keys

and the talk confuses my little brain.

    thx

  • @FlashMobAJam Thanks for the kind comment and the good suggestion. Did you watch the first few videos of the series? There's also a link with one of the first videos that jumps to a different lesson that goes over how to name the keys and read notes on the music. I hope that helps - if not, let me know and I'll try to make sure future lessons are easier to follow.

  • You've got the right equipment, and you're so patient! Also love the calm voice; it relaxes me when I can't figure out how it's done. I just slide back to the part where I got it right. You're an amazing help to a lot of people, what a great achievement!

  • @Mriietube Aw, thank you so much! I've heard other people tell me that my voice puts them to sleep...so don't watch these videos while driving on the road ;)

  • wow I never I could play the begging but with your help, I'm not doing a great job and ready to move on to the next step, thanks!!

  • @shawtyisaten1jahn That's wonderful to hear! Keep up the good work and post a video showing your progress when you get a chance!

  • @keyboardglued321 You might try doing what I'm gonna attempt to do -- learn the notes first, then listen for their timing. :)

  • @keyboardglued321 No, he didn't talk about the time signature or the types of notes (half, quarter, etc)... :/ the one little beef I have with his videos.

  • This series is a great help... :) thanks... I have a question about accidentals... If an accidental is indicated, take for example just at the lower staff, would that be applied to the upper staff too?

  • man this makes it easy when you already know how to play.i can go through these pretty fast. thanks

  • going back and forth between the keys and the sheets are making me dizzy :)

  • One question, did you go through the 9/8 timing in a video? Did I miss it?

  • Really helpful videos! Such a calm lovely voice to listen to. One of my favourite tutorials :).

  • Thank you vely much sir :)

  • great lessons. a hard song taught to what seems like a starting beginner, but that's just what i am so this is the best tutorial. thank you, great teaching! :)
