"Age Of Steam" is one of my very favorite albums made by anyone. I've always thought of it as Gerry's "Pet Sounds," "Physical Graffiti"," Kind of Blue," or something. His own very personal masterpiece.

Thats a good comparison as like KInd of Blue, Pet Sounds or Physical Graffiti there is a definite vibe or feel that runs through it. For me I loose it with a lot of Jazz through the 70s it all gets a little too funky and not enough of the reflective music. I love the fact that his passion for trains comes through

Am a big Gerry Mulligan fan. I like the unclassifable stuff he has done like the session playing he did with Beaver and Krause on Grandharva and this is just so unlike anything else.
