Don Shelby and Pat Miles anchored the 10pm report on WCCO during the 1980s. This bump was after Knots Landing, the same day that the Minnesota Twins visited President Reagan. Also a great Old Dutch Commercial.

  • @mbhfromla The virtual set and graphics came from a company called Newsmat. The ABC-Cap Cities stations were their biggest clients, but there were quite a few affiliates of all big 3 networks who used them.

  • These were the days when WCCO-TV was still a prestigious news organization, but the station was quickly being dominated by KARE-11. In fact, one of the biggest mental blows the Channel 4 received was when Pat Miles defected to KARE-11 in the fall of 1988. Don Shelby has had a few different co-anchors since then.

  • Yay for the epic Lorimar-Telepictures logo at the beginning!

  • The Fucking 80's!

  • I guess we now know where WBBM got their "I'm a 2-Watcher" campaign from...

  • I could see Billy Dee Williams in the Wheel of Fortune commercial!

  • At the end of that promo,'CCO had used the CBSPRIT graphics.

  • This looks like the opens from ABC O&O's during the 80's, I wonder if the same company produced such opens.

  • I LOVE the Old Dutch Pretzels & potato chips!.... when i was still in Mpls, i use to eat 'em a lot.

  • Fun to see the Old Dutch ad! I was in Minnesota in grad school when these aired and I used to watch 'CCO's news.
