This piece is from "The King & I," which is probably my favorite Rodgers & Hammerstein musical (I was in it at the age of 14 as royal child Princess Ying Yaowlak), sung by the character of Lady Thiang in defense of the King. In the context of the show, the song seems to represent an act of feminine submission, which is looked down upon by Anna, but more than that, it's a song about loving people for who they are, despite their shortcomings...and who can't relate to that?
Of all the renditions of this beautiful song, this is my favorite. I think because Ashley puts so much feeling into it. Others have better voices, but she, for me, does it best.
