What are the benefits exporting / rendering as an Image Sequence and why should you ALWAYS render as such (for 3D animation etc.). Once again I am showing this using Lightwave 3D and QuickTime for the other part.

This also applies to Adobe After Effects, Apple Motion and any other animation software that understands "Image Sequence".

  • The most important reason why you would need an image sequence is to bring over an alpha channel....

  • @georgekyriazis1 Agreed, I work a lot with Alphas when I use Adobe After Effects for certain projects.

  • @LeeAndrewVideos I don´t understand properly sorry.... why use an image sequence, when you can also use a video (.mov) with included alpha channel? It works well for me...

  • @NicoSchrenk I have no doubt it works, but what image sequences are good for and often work better is: No issues with codecs, lower files sizes, you can edit individual images if needed, if your computer crashes or something like that you can continue to render from the last frame rather than having to re-render again. There are so many good reasons. And you can of course have alpha channels :-)

  • Ha ha thank you :-)

  • As Lee says folks - ALWAYS, ALWAYS and ALWAYS render out as a series of stills and not as a video format. First of all the quality is far more easy to control and what the hell are you going to do when a project would take (as one of mine) 175 hours??? Well done Lee - Tell em again!!!

  • This video is so great, I have been having problem with playing the QuickTime files after I render from lightwave, now this fix that problem, keep the videos coming.
