The GM T's have differents designs around the world, but actually they're the same car.
I did read once that USA's chevette was never stronger than 73 hp. Shame, the 1.6/S here in Brazil had about 85HP and for its weight, it was pretty fast!

Actually the Chev Chevette was also sold in Canada. it was intorduced in Canada the same year as in the U.S. The Acadian was intorduced a few years later in the early 80's for Canadian Pontiac dealers. U.S. Pontica dealers did breifly sell the Pontiac version, but it was called the T-1000. one of the big reasons why GM builds lots of duplicate vehicles is for their dealers. If a Chev model is very successful in sales then Pontiac dealers will scream for a version and GM may create one.
