WOW!! Ive been playing gospel and neo soul for some time. Any comments on what to practice or books to get to get that tatum down like you?

just listened again , great . don't know how i could have not appreciated ,below, how well you play tangerine ! consider the comment deleted ,as far as tangerine goes lol ! . they related more to the second half !
have found somewhere i can get my arrangement of tea for two transcribed (when i can play it w/o mistakes that is ! ! ! will let you know when it happens ) cheers

Thanks for the advice "fingers". One advantage of improvising is a more natural flowing performance. Also makes playing the piano a lot more fun, because your never sure whats next.The down side is you open a door to imperfections,especially at faster tempos. Of course the hardest passages were easy to the great players, but even Tatum said in a interview as he matured he learned how to"save himself".Now I could also say I planned it that way, but I probably messed up. Thanks for the tip.

i know that song you start with but am jiggered if i can remember the name , a girls name ! josephine ? ? ? ? ? ?
may i suggest you keep more melody in the performance . art tatum kept pretty true to the originals unlike some who bury the melodies in too much decoration , and the swing as at 4.16 and 4.23 and 4.33 and 50sec.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. The name of that tune is Tangerine.You were close. Im polishing up my Tea for Two for ya.
