This is my 2nd time watching the series through and what I've gathered from this scene and the scene where Marlo tells Chris and Snoop Omar is dead...in each scene Chris' faces are very expressive...almost as though it was intentional for him not to tell Marlo about Omar maybe cause he knew Marlo wasn't up to par with Omar
-
Marlo was the only nigga in Baltimore can disrespect Christ, LOL
-
marlo saying my name is my name is no different than omar saying "when u been in the game as long as me, u do it just off name"
-
i like how Omar(who's openly gay) gets more love in the hood and the hip hop community than Marlo haha as a matter of fact Omar is everybody's favorite character(even Obama). how interesting...

On the Streets reputation means everything...anyone can get paid on the streets n have some cash in they pocket but it takes a G to have a reputation and have his name ring bells on the street.
Probably why i get goose bumps whenever i see this scene..its some real shit.

All Marlo cared about what his reputation and in the end, that was crapped on by Omar and he was an unhappy person.
-
Damn! Marlo look like a velociraptor when he yell!

@kaseskells If there's one thing Marlo cared about it's his reputation. Money wasn't even much of a concern for him. He's essentially like a much more ruthless version of Avon with no interest in the business side of things. He also doesn't come across as a coward, so if his name was at stake, I'm sure he would've (somehow) tried to get to Omar himself.

@synquantro It made it seem like everybody shut the hell up when he got pissed.
Marlo gets respect in the same sense that a rapist gets pussy.

Notice how when Marlo gets fired up they dim the background noise and chatter. This heightens the tension of the scene in a very subtle yet effective way. In any other crime show or movie they would use dramatic music in this scene so you know something important is happening. The Wire respects its audience too much to hit it over the head with cheesy melodrama.
