This is a quick visual guide to using the Impress Bead Liner to core your lampwork beads with metal.

You will need:

A pipe cutter
The Impress Bead Liner -http://www.artintheround.com/
Metal tubing
A pen that will mark on metal
Digital Calipurs -I got mine from harbor freight. They are awesome!
Dave's Deburring tool -http://www.artintheround.com/

I hope this is helpful. And of course feel free to stop at my website/blog to browse beads or find some other interesting information. http://heatherdoesglass.com

Thanks :)

  • YAY! You're wonderful for doing this for us! I've had my Dave Impress Tool (and som Ginko Copper and Silver) for, like, a year and a half and have been too skeered to try it! Doh! Now you've given me the courage! I can hardly wait! Will be double checking the size diameter copper/silver I have but was wondering, did you have to change out the peg that comes with the Liner in order to use this sized tube? That's something I dread trying... :(

  • @theglasszone

    Great! I hope it's helpful

I did end up changing out the peg. Here's a video I came across that shows how to change it :)

  • Great tutorial. I've only tried it with thin wall silver and I turn the handle very slowly. Do you turn as fast with the silver as you do with the copper?

  • @shineonlampie I don't do it ridiculously fast or slow, but it's pretty much the same for me with copper and silver.

  • This is excellent. I have had the liner for some time but seeing you use it will help me immensely. Thank you so much!

  • @valntynes Awesome! I'm so glad I could help. Lining beads is addicting isn't it?

  • Brilliant!

  • @HeatherBehrendt Oh boy, I just did my first Silver Core Bead! Woo hoo...and so much thanks to you for your guidance and giving me the tips and courage I needed. I so appreciate it!

    :)

  • Aw, thanks Heather! Not sure if I'm blowing it (which wouldn't be unusual LOL!) but I don't see a link for a vid to do the switch-a-roo of the peg. I'm going to check Dave's site; I think he had a vid to do it as well but not sure. I'm not sure how to tell which peg is which, though. Anyway, thanks for this great instructional assist! :)

  • So there is more than one way to core a bead without spending a bundle! I may give it a try. Thanks

    Deb
