STV Regina and Saskatoon launched with a 30 minute special on September 6th, 1987, hosted by "Size Small"'s Helen Lumby. Here is the opening of that special, from a fifth anniversary rebroadcast.

Sorry, I accidentally deleted someone's comment. In answer to their question, the station was always affiliated with the Ontario Global network. At first they carried Global's 11 o'clock national news, and carried many of the same shows. Later it was the Canwest Global System. And in 1997, all of the Canwest stations rebranded as Global with a new logo.
