Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's the 32X version, but this game seems a lot cheaper than I remember. This was one of the very few sports series I enjoyed a lot as a kid, as my older brothers would play it all the time, but having not played an NBA Jam game in over ten years, I come back to one of the games and shake my head.
This game is fun, but you'll be getting owned pretty easily by default without some practice, as it doesn't seem to matter what stats my players have. I don't mind a competitive game, but when I'm going up against players with questionable stats and they can score three-pointers from anywhere at nearly any time (and one of the two opponents, Grant, has a 3Pts stat of ONE), I start to call BS. In fact, I wanted to keep the whole recording and show you that the computer didn't miss a single three and didn't really miss any twos the whooooole game (but it's too long). I ended up going into overtime with a final score of 75-72 and wondering how I won or how I even got any moment of fire time. I remember handily blazing the court burning up the hoop, but that just may be a thing of the past.
More important than my memories of this game is how much it improves over its Genesis/MD counterpart, which it doesn't do much of. Quite a shame really. Anyway, I kept the first half of the recording. It's normal play, as in, no hot spots and such. I'll likely enable them in another NBA Jam game, as the game is a cinch and a blast to play when they're on. Enjoy.
