@sockeyehealey: Hate to tell you but 90% of Harley -Davidsones are made here in Australia in Adelaide. Several years ago I was taken on an extensive tour of the Harley factory where the engines and gear boxes are built, then over to the paint shop, and finally to where they are wrapped up in bubble wrap, packed in crates ready to go to America where they are finally assembled, then brough back to Australia as a fully assembled bike
@spaghettikid1 Not really the 400-4 was a little rocket in its day loved by ladies everywhere because it was small light and handled well. were as the CB750F was a starship in comparison and it handled like a banana in the bends I know I`ve had both!
@sockeyehealey Thats cool, I did not catch the sarcasm...I normally don't bash on H-D too much because I believe everyone should ride the bike that best suits them...however, I really don't think H-D owner should ever throw stones as they live in glass houses. My first streetbike was 1980 CB 750, I loved that thing, fast, light (compared to you know), and most of all RELIABLE! Sold it for the same I payed and the guy got a great bike.
@jeffmoto72 I'm sorry for the misunderstanding here. I agree with you wholeheartedly. My post was a confusing, flippant attempt at sarcasm in that I cited several popular myths regarding American superiority in general. Other than the HD cosmetic choices I mention, the bike has been quite a failure in terms of maintenance, longevity, and performance. And I agree that this is partly a result of our cultural laziness. What I find remarkable is the cultish following these bikes generate.
@sockeyehealey I'll need waders for this depth of BS...I'm sorry dude but Americans are fat and lazy for the most part and have made anything worth a dime in 30 years which is most of my life...including junky ass H-D's...
@onanco92@9iide I confess to being sarcastic in my response to what I perceived as your somewhat racist remark. The racism doesn't really bother me near as much as the implication that American is always best.
You've thrown me a curve, however, in that my translation of your latest statement is, "Give me chocolate." チョコレート = chocolate?
Anyway, 9iide has it right in that the classic Japanese in-line fours will gain popularity and appreciation as they revolutionized the motorcycle industry.
I once had a Harley Sportster 883R Injection. It is a nice and authentic bike, its build quality is better than most anticipate. But it is quite heavy and bulky. Japanese four cylinders are better on the road. These 1980s machines will become the next sought-after youngtimers soon.
You must go for the high performance, low cost of maintenance, American-made Harley Davidson. Nice looker..great variety of colors and pretty good aftermarket options. Just like our (US of A) performances in education, public health, literacy and longevity, the American Harley is number one world wide! Yes sir!
Suspend disbelief and become a freedom-loving, lock & load, anti-socialist Harley riding American.
Please feel free to respond venomously - I anticipate it.
