The video shows the waveform as I vary:

* VCO frequency
* VCO wave shap
* VCO delay feedback (with iso-amplitude function)

Today I was playing around with a delay and feedback effect. The trouble with a delay effect is that it works like a comb filter i.e. it creates a repeating pattern of band pass filters. So as you sweep the frequency, the amplitude will vary as it passes through each stop-band section of the filter.

To get around this I simply disallowed the feedback to cause destructive interfere by flipping the feedback value to maximise the sum of signal + feedback.

One of the odd drawbacks is that it no longer works on square waves! But you can see the strange effect it has on all other waves. As I sweep through the frequency you can see how the effect changes the waveform but keeps the amplitude constant. I quite like the effect it has on sine waves - it makes it in to a square wave with 2 bumps top and bottom.

I'm not sure if I will keep this effect, but I thought that it was worth documenting.

I conclude the video with a demonstration of the arpeggiator.
